CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Entrants must reside or work (practice) within the Marrickville Local Government Area (LGA): this includes Camperdown, Dulwich Hill, Enmore, Erskineville*, Lewisham, Marrickville, Marrickville South,Newtown, Petersham, St.Peters, Stanmore, Sydenham, and Tempe. For the purpose of this award, 'work' is defined in terms of a demonstrable recent exhibiting history or a current studio practice within the geographical area as outlined above.  


2. Artworks submitted for entry can be of any medium, and should not exceed 2.5m (height) x 2.5m (width) x 2.5m (depth) in dimension. Entries can be singular, multiple, modular or serial artworks. Entered artworks must be the original work of the entrant and must have been created within the calendar years 2009 or 2010.


3. Entrants can submit more than one entry. An entry form and entry fee of $25 must accompany each submission. However, a maximum of one entry can be short-listed (selected) for exhibition per artist.


4. Current Directors of the organising organisation - At The Vanishing Point - Contemporary Art Inc. (ATVP) - or staff of the funding and support partners (Marrickville Council and Sydney Fringe), are ineligible to enter this award.


JUDGING PROCES:

1. A short-listing of entries will be selected for exhibition by the Board of Directors of ATVP. All entrants will be notified by Tuessday 24 August 2010 as to the outcome of the short-listed selections.


2. A panel of esteemed independent judges (consisting of a practicing artist, gallerist and theorist/academic) will determine the Open Award recipient and any commendations, upon viewing the exhibition of selected artworks at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, prior to the exhibition launch.


3. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the results of the selection and judging process.


4. The People's Choice Award will be voted by the attending audience. Each audience member is permitted to enter one vote only. Any recognised or reasonably perceived fraudulent activities in terms of this voting process may result in the cancelation of this award.

 

EXHIBITION OBLIGATIONS FOR SELECTED ARTISTS:

1. Short-listed works for MCAP'10 are to be delivered to Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Pidcock Street Camperdown (next to Camperdown Bowling Club) on Monday 30 August between 10am & 7pm.


2. Any late submissions will not be exhibited nor be eligible for awards.


3. Entrants are expected to arrange and cover all costs involved in the delivery of work to and from the gallery. Any special installation requirements must be arranged and supplied by the entrant.


4. All artworks may be for sale or not. A commission of 25%, payable to ATVP, applies to any sales made during, or as a result of, the exhibition of the artworks in MCAP'10.


5. Whilst all care will be taken handling artworks, all artworks shall at all times be at the risk of the entrant. ATVP and its funding and supporting partners shall not be liable for any losses or damage.


6. ATVP and its funding and supporting partners reserve the right to undertake photography and filming of all artworks and public programs in, or associated with, the exhibition, for publication in press and media, catalogues and websites in relation to the promotion and documentation of the event and the organising organisation. Acknowledgements of authorship will be duly and appropriately made.


7. Exhibited artworks must be collected from the gallery from 5.00pm - 8.00pm on Sunday 19 September or 10.00am - 12.00noon on Monday 20 September 2010. Any artworks not collected within these times may be discarded.


8. ATVP reserves the right to eliminate any work that turns up to Chrissie Cotter Gallery not adequately presented or ready for exhibition, as deemed by the organisers. Any entry found to be fraudulent at any time will immediately be disqualified.


Note: *Erskineville, whilst not being within the borders of the Marrickville LGA, has been included due to its proximity to the organising organisation and in acknowledgement of its contribution to the cultural fabric of the Newtown Precinct.
